YEC, Sprittibee: Part 2

An excellent discussion occurred over at Sprittibee, which encompassed the full spectrum -- YEC, OEC, theistic evolution, naturalistic evolution -- of the creation/evolution debate before being closed by the site admin. Worth perusing for those who are interested. Work this week included an 18 hour day on Monday, which threw off my schedule for the rest of the week, leaving me unable to scan the blogosphere or contribute to Sprittibee's lively back-and-forth.

A new site emerged from the discussion that may be of interest. Ocellated is maintained by Jay, who is aparently a reader of Gnosos. (Hello, Jay!)

Howdy Zeteo. Yes, I read occasionally. I find your background very interesting. I myself am a Christian. I grew up in a Christian home. My parents never came down against evolution per se, but my culture more or less frowned upon it perhaps. I went through a period where I was quite unsure what to think myself. I ended up coming back to my faith, though with some very different conclusions (scientifically, politically, etc) than I'd had before. My faith is still filled with a tension of liking to know things scientifically, though I've become more comfortable that science and religion can be complimentary by recognizing that the areas they address are not really overlapping. In fact, the "evidence" for my faith comes from my belief in the gospel's power to change lives.

From what I've read of your past, I might very well have walked away from anything that looked religious, disgusted with it all. So I'm a sympathizer, and I find your discussions on the issue both interesting and sometimes challenging to my own beliefs.

Hope you don't have to work too many 18 hour days. Take care.
