Hitler and Evolution
This topic makes me sick. Once it seemed only to be whackos like Kent Hovind who spouted the ridiculous claim that Hitler could not have been successful without the theory of evolution. Now, more mainstream Christians have made a TV special and a book that espouse the same vitriolic asinine fatuity. The best treatment of the current controversy is from Ed Brayton at Dispatches from the Culture Wars.

I'm busy preparing an article on my blog that argues against the evolution-Hitler argument. I believe it is kind of argument someone uses when they run out of rational arguments for their position; it's a clear sign that that they are on the loosing side.
This is great blog. I will visit often.
All the best

One would think Hitler was effective not because of evolution (he wasn't a Marxist, even, per se, and being one still wouldn't have made his actions "evolution's fault") but because he appealed to his people's religious hatred of Jews. He fanned hate and fear of the Jews, those "people who killed Christ" to further his cause of control through propaganda and fear, much as Hussein had done.
Christians seem to be more than willing to confuse eugenics with natural selection. It suits their purpose to do so.
Selective breeding of human populations predates darwinism. Royalty selective bred themselves and their animals for centuries. They were not aware of darwin or any of darwin's science, when they did this.
